press release

Cherry Pie, Today is for You

Cherry pie, today is for you
Prepping for the feast
We stood in a line to wash our hands
Peaches and cream cheeks
They match the color of your hands
Tiled kitchen walls dyed green
Lines that followed lines
Knotted my eyes
A thin layer of residue stains the floor

We ate the cherry heart shaped pie in a circle that morning
All five of us
With blue latex gloves
We decided to be clean, pure and exact.
Following the incision marks
Dotted down the center
Star shaped belly button
We cut
Oh Cherry pie, today is for you

Blue ghost hands
Touching a burgundy heart
The heart of a cherry pie
Red goop sugar droplets bloop to the sides
As one pie flap folds over

We feast until the end
Dissecting and observing every bite
We wash our hands until they are raw
Worn down sticker
Cherry pie, today is for you
