Woogie
Osamu Kobayashi

Opening Reception: Friday August 12th, 6-9pm

Osamu Kobayashi has caught the rhythm. The smooth flowing gestures have a swing in their step. Lyrical calligraphy invokes dance while anthropomorphic color accents the space with minimal notes.

Osamu Kobayashi (b. 1984, Columbia, SC) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He has exhibited widely in the US and abroad including solo exhibitions at the Greenwich House in New York, AplusB Contemporary Art in Italy, and John Davis Gallery in New York. He has participated in group exhibitions at the Lissone Contemporary Art Museum, Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery at Stony Brook University, Bronx River Art Center, and the Columbia Museum of Art. In 2013, Kobayashi was awarded the Hassam, Speicher, Betts, and Symons Purchase Fund from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His work has been reviewed in The L Magazine, New York Observer, and Hyperallergic.
